My retirement from Dentistry several years ago has allowed me more time to devote to photography, and this website is one of the results. I had an interest in taking pictures since my adolescence, when I used a box camera and B&W film. My first "real" camera, a Nikon FTN, was purchased in 1968, when I joined a camera club. I learned much of what I know about photography through my camera club activities, and after 8 years I had achieved enough competence to have one of my pictures appear on the cover of Popular Photography magazine. in the ensuing years, I have sold about 25 additional color covers, including one on Photographic magazine, and have had over 100 other images published, through my own efforts as well as with the aid of one of the prominent stock agencies. With an associate, I taught a basic photography course for many years, and have presented lectures and shows at various events, and on 3 cruise ships. I have been recognized as an Associate in the Photographic Society of America, and have received the Citation from the New Jersey Federation of Camera clubs. For those interested in the technical details, I have used Nikon camera bodies solely, from my first FTN, through the 8008 and my current F3HP. My lenses were from various manufacturers in addition to Nikon, and a good tripod was always a necessary piece of my equipment. I have recently purchased a digital Nikon 950, which has the advantage of being much lighter than my other cameras. I shoot exclusively on slide film, K64 or Fuji 100, and I generally underexpose 1/3 of a stop for more saturation. I polarize when appropriate, and for the website, have used Photoshop and other imaging programs to sharpen and enhance the images. Except for the few digital images, all scanning was from Photo CDs.
